Approved project proposals - Kosovo

Title: Trip Share
CSO Contact: Automobile Club Kosova Amount: 9.400 EUR
Description:

Objective:

  • Reduction of 2-3% of total number of cars travelling from Mitrovica to Pristine

Activities:

Location of the project is Mitrovica and Prishtina. Activities will be focused in public information, disseminate information and apply the operative and telephone system for interested citizens, same time preparation of other materials aiming to spread the philosophy of trip share through:

  • Establishment of software (Data base).
  • Designing, printing and distribution of 20.000 flyers (first phase).
  • Designing, printing and distribution of 20.000 flyers (second phase). 
  • Advertisement in local radio stations.
  • Monitoring phone calls, record data into the software and establish contacts with interested ones for a “trip share”.
  • Refresh the ACK (Webpage in order to offer the Trip Share through internet).

Expected outcomes:

  • Decreased traffic jam in Pristina city
  • Decreased number of vehicles by 5%  
  • Saved around 2 million litters carburant per year
  • Raised awareness of Pristina citizens of different alternative ways of transport in the city.

Title: Usage of Public Transport – Environmental and Health Protection
CSO Contact: Eko Klina Amount: 9.992 EUR
Description:

Objectives:

  • Citizens awareness about the traffic impact on urban environment as well as importance of using other alternative
  • Establishment of technical and formal facilitation for improving services of public transport 
  • Promoting use of other alternatives rather than private cars for travelling in the city 
  • Decreasing costs of travelling in the city

Location of the project will be Prishtina.

Activities:

Questionnaire

  • Creating a real view on how much citizens are informed about the impact of the traffic in their health and environment, how much did they use private cars and are they ready to use other offered alternatives

Awareness campaign

  • Radio and TV advertisements and debates
  • Leaflets
  • Posters

Workshop

  • Bring together all stakeholders
  • Identifying the ways for cooperation (networking, lobbying, campaigns)

Round Table

  • stakeholders to be committed to promote sustainable urban development and traffic as major factor of environmental pollution
  • memorandum of cooperation between local authorities, public transport companies and CSOs
  • future joint activities

Expected outcomes:

  • Reduction of urban traffic pollution and ultimately reduction of illness caused by traffic pollution  
  • Decreased costs, included parking tickets and costs for public transport   
  • Aware citizens about the importance of traffic reduction
  • Municipality establishes facilities to improve services for  public transport
  • Public transport enterprises increase transporting capacities

Title: Waste – Urban Problem
CSO Contact: The Greens Amount: 9.980 EUR
Description:

Objective:

  • Public awareness raising regarding the recycling and hazard wastes in Prizren.

Activities:

  • main activities are education and introduction to the hazard and recycling wastes (June - December 2008),
  • and phase two includes the practice of gained knowledge regarding wastes (January – May 2009)

Expected outcomes:

  • Gathering as much as possible recycling and hazard wastes in the selected neighbourhoods of Prizren
  • Contribute towards changing of behaviour and attitude regards waste disposal
  • Publication of data regarding domestic waste generation and waste types in selected neighbourhoods for project implementation  

Title: Importance of Energy Efficiency on Urban Environmental Protection
CSO Contact: Eco Viciana  Amount: 9.500 EUR
Description:

Objectives:

  • Promote the relation between the energy consumption and environmental protection in Prishtina.
  • Inform (educate) the community about the ways of energy consumption reduction (saving)
  • Inform the community municipality of Kastriot (where the Kosovo Energetic Corporation functions) that except financial benefits (less many to pay), by reducing the energy consumption they contribute to the sustainable development (sharing more energy for companies)

Activities:

  • Workshop: Topic of the workshop will be “The importance of energy efficiency for urban environment protection”. There will be discussions about the importance of energy consumption reduction, energy efficiency, identifying the ways for saving the energy in urban environments and stimulating the community for energy saving
  • Awareness raising campaign: is about the importance of energy saving and urban environmental protection
    • Leaflet – will contain information about the role of saving energy for the environment, the ways of energy saving and community benefits. The leaflet will be distributed through cash points of energy payments
    • Poster, will contain information about the role of saving energy for the environment, the ways of energy saving and community benefits
  • Radio advertisement will contain information about the role  of saving energy for the environment , the ways of energy saving and community benefits and it will be transmitted in one local radio station in Pristine

 Expected outcomes:

  • The Environmental protection – promotion of less emission in the environment and sustainable use of natural recourses,
  • Social matters improvements – decreasing the cost for spent energy
  • Economical development – improving energy provision for production enterprises
  • Community awareness raising – for environmental protection through energy consumption reduction
  • Other indirect benefits for all communities despite their gender or ethnic identity.
