Approved project proposals - Albania Title: Rehabilitation of public green area for all the community CSO Contact: “Royal Albania” Foundation Amount: 8.700 EUR Description: Objectives: To improve the living and recreational environment in the selected neighbourhood of Përmet; To involve the youth of roma population in environmental activities; To integrate better the different ethnic populations; To promote the best values of the local population Main activities: Rehabilitation of a green area as a recreational park; awareness activities with community; fair of handcrafts products; public meetings with young people and female of roma population. Expected outputs: Improved green and recreational area (planting 20 trees, 10 park benches, 10 waste bins, grass and flowers) Improved awareness of the local community regarding the environment and sustainable development, Improved integration of women into neighbourhood life Improved knowledge on gender issues; Promotion of handcraft products Title: Implementation of environment management to be possible to live in healthy city CSO Contact: Center for Education and Communication Amount: 9.870 EUR Description: Objectives to increase the awareness of Peshkopia citizen on environment and sustainable development; to monitor and influence the local decision making processes; to involve local stakeholders in action which improve the environment; Main activities: Awareness activities (pamphlets, posters, meetings); monitoring activities for environmental problems in the Peshkopia town; training activities for the citizens’ commissions; concrete works on cleaning, greening, planting waste bins; Expected outputs: 300 posters, 2700 pamphlets, 2 training materials; 2000 sq.m area and 100 trees protected and rehabilitated; Cleaning of 10000 sq.m, planting 27 waste bins, removal of 40 tons of waste; Two public monitoring reports; Fostering the partnership between CSO and public institutions; Increased awareness among the population and local authorities. Increased by 10% collection of local cleaning tax. Title: Cleaning environment from urban solid waste, Kukës CSO Contact: Association “Kujdesi – Care” Kukës Amount: 9.300 EUR Description: Objectives: to improve the dumpsite of the Kukës town; to increase the awareness of local population on solid and construction waste management; to improve the environmental planning at local level Main activities: Rehabilitation of solid and construction waste dumpsite; Planting trees on the site; publication of posters and pamphlets; development of solid waste action plan with the participation of citizens, local authorities Expected outputs: Improvement of the environment, surrounding the dumpsite of Kukës town; Increased awareness of local population on environment and waste management; A local level action plan on waste management, developed with public participation. Title: Less damaged green areas – better health in Vlora CSO Contact: Nature Protection and Environment Management “Adriatiku” Center Amount: 9.950 EUR Description: Objectives: to promote the environmental education principle for the public in Vlora; to promote the public participation and reaction towards the decision made by Vlora local authorities; to improve the environment through increasing green areas and recreational parks in the town; Main activities: Awareness activities (promotional materials, pamphlets, public meetings, TV debates, TV spot, comics exhibition, media coverage; Establishment of joint council for cooperation, with participation of local authorities, CSOs, citizens, etc.; Improvement of environmental indicators by rehabilitation of a green area at University campus Expected outputs: Improvement of the environment (1500 sq.m), at Vlora University campus; Strengthening the cooperation between civil society, local community and local authorities; Increased awareness of local population on environment and sustainable development. Title: Improve of environmental situation, through awareness and involvement of community – Elbasan CSO Contact: Women forum Elbasan Amount: 8.600 EUR Description: Objectives: to improve the environmental conditions in two districts of the Elbasan city; to increase the awareness of local population on environmental aspects; to promote the civil action to protect environment; to strengthen cooperation between civil society and local authorities Main activities: Rehabilitation of the selected green areas; Awareness activities (pamphlets, public meetings) Making a survey and prepare a report on it Expected outputs: rehabilitation of 1740 sq.m green areas (park benches, waste bins, service points); 500 pamphlets distributed at least 60 citizens and 200 students involved in the awareness activities and public debates; Increased awareness of local population on environment and waste management; Increased involvement of women in project activities Title: Construction of the green area near the historical museum in Rrëshen town CSO Contact: Association “For a greener future” Rrëshen Amount: 10.000 EUR Description: Objectives: to improve the environmental indicators in the town; to promote historical values of the Museum; to raise awareness on environment and specific values of the town; to increase the participation of the public in local decision making processes Main activities: Rehabilitation of surrounding area of the Historical Museum of Rrëshen; Awareness activities with local community and local stakeholders Expected outputs: Improvement of the environment, surrounding the Historical Museum; Historical values of the area promoted; Increased awareness of local population on environment; Increased cooperation among CSO, local authorities and Museum authorities Title: “We recycle for a clean school and healthy environment” CSO Contact: EDEN Center Amount: 13.350 EUR Description: Objectives: to improve the living conditions in surrounding areas of the selected schools through cleaning actions; to raise awareness and level of education of students of selected schools on environment; to involve teachers and parents on the activities of recycling; to improve the environment in the selected schools to promote recycling methods and better waste management Main activities: Education and awareness activities with students, teachers and parents; Establishment of a system for recycling of paper in selected schools; Cooperation with recycling companies for collection of segregated waste Expected outputs: improved infrastructure on waste collection and segregation in selected schools in Tirana; increased level of awareness and education of the students of the selected schools; increased level of awareness for teachers, and parents; Strengthened cooperation among different stakeholders: schools, local government, recycling companies and CSOs. Title: Cooperation between civil society, business and local government on improvement of urban environment in Rrogozhina CSO Contact: Center of Albanian Development Amount: 9.800 EUR Description: Objectives: to raise the awareness of the public on environment and sustainable development in Rrogozhina town; to activate different groups of interest on development and implementation of demonstration practices for improvement of environment; to involve women and roma organisations in environmental activities; to increase the cooperation between different stakeholders. Main activities: Awareness activities (posters, pamphlets, public meetings) Meetings with roma people, students and teachers; Concrete interventions for cleaning actions and planting decorative trees in Rrogozhina. Expected outputs: Increased awareness of local population on environment; Improved environmental conditions in Rrogozhina town, Involvement of different target groups (women, roma, youth) in environmental activities; Positive influence in respect of gender issues and roma rights and integration in the public life.
